The ArcGIS Experience Builder update includes five new widgets, support for more data types, configurable windows and screen groups, new animation styles, and more themes, templates, widget settings, and quick styles. Some of the highlights are listed below.
- Animation—Set eye-catching animation styles on pages, windows, and widgets using effects such as fly-in, spin in, and fade in. You can also set transition modes for moving between section views.
- Data types—You can now connect to more data types, including feature services, map services, group layers, feature tables, Point and 3D Object scene layers (with query support), and feature collections (excluding map notes and route layers).
- Data views—Create data views of feature and scene layers by adding filter and sort criteria to control what appears in connected widgets.
- Data refresh interval settings—Keep the data in your app updated automatically.
- Screen groups—Configure a screen group to organize content and widgets on scrolling pages so users can scroll through multiple screens worth of content with a fixed main stage background for each screen in the group before continuing to scroll to content in blocks further down the page.
- Windows—Configure windows that appear when the app or a page loads, or when activated by another widget. Include custom splash screens, confirmation messages, and alerts in your web experiences. Use the Tooltip template for anchored windows that provide more information about the linked widget, such as a button or image. For fixed windows, choose between two standard interaction types: Confirmation or Do not show again, with option to exclude the OK button.
- Templates and themes—Start with one of many new default templates, including two multipage templates and a scrolling page template called Parallax that uses the new screen group. Two more themes have also been added.
- Outline options—The widget options in the Outline view now include the Pin tool for widgets on scrolling pages.
- Quick navigation—Use the quick navigation menu at the bottom of the configuration window to select a page or window in your experience and access its settings. This menu also provides a preview of the page hierarchy and window types.
- App status—There are now three status badges for your web experiences: Draft, Published, and Unpublished changes.
- Guided tour—For a quick start, follow guided instructions that step you through configuring an experience or a List widget.
Widgets
Several widgets have more settings and styles, including Views Navigation, Text, Menu, Feature Info, List, and Fly Controller. You can pin a widget to keep it visible on scrolling pages and rotate widget's for more flexibility. Use the new widget operations to duplicate widgets and copy and paste them across pages for streamlined page design. Other improvements include the following new and updated widgets:
- Bookmark widget (new)—Provide a collection of 2D and 3D spatial bookmarks for a selected map. Use the provided templates to add rich detail for a place, such as images, descriptions, links, and embedded apps. The traditional templates allow end users to create bookmarks at runtime. Enable an option to automatically navigate a connected map to the first bookmark in the widget. You can also turn off looping when the widget is set to auto-play.
- Branch Version Management (new)—Manage the versions of branch versioned datasets. Use this widget on a page with or without a displayed map. Changes made in this widget affect data across your app, so other widgets that use the same services display versions accordingly.
- Card widget (new)—Display related bits of content in a flexible and extensible container that supports hover effects. Use one of many classic or advanced templates or design your own.
- Divider widget (new)—Separate widgets with a visual line to improve page structure.
- Table widget (new)—Display attribute tables for feature layers. Include one or more sheets in the widget that users can access via tabs or a list. Selecting records in the Table widget can trigger action in other widgets, such as a Map or List widget.
- Embed widget—You can configure additional options, such as setting the auto-refresh interval for embedded content and allowing users to access embedded ArcGIS items shared across organizations without prompting for credentials.
- Filter widget—Choose from several new arrangement and activation styles. There are also more input styles for ask-for-value clauses, more supported operators, and duplicate clause and clause set have been enabled. You can now choose predefined values (unique and multiple) in SQL expression builder.
- Image widget—Populate image widgets from feature layer attachments and web map feature symbols.
- Legend widget—Change the font and background color.
- List widget—Provide a hint that appears as placeholder text in the search box to help end users search for relevant values.
- Map widget—You can now add the Select tool to your maps or scenes and change the highlight color for features selected in the map. The scale bar now supports nonmetric units.
- Menu widget—Display an icon for each menu item that identifies it as a page, link, or folder.
- Section widget—The widget now has auto-play settings and built-in navigation tools for users to access the section views.
- Share widget—Includes more social media options for sharing apps. You can also change the default color of media icons to white or black.
- Survey widget—Adds support for passing polyline or polygon from the map widget to a question in the survey widget. You can now preview surveys that you edit in the embedded designer.
- Text widget—When the text takes up more space than the size of the widget, a fade effect appears at the bottom of the widget with a jumping arrow icon in the corner to indicate when there is more text than is showing so end users know to scroll to see more.
- Views Navigation widget—Specify the spacing and alignment of tab and symbol styles and the line width for the underline tab style.
